On January 16, 2020, SLF brought a putative class action lawsuit on behalf of a group of healthcare professionals, including nurses, working for Core Medstaff. Among other things, the lawsuit alleges that the staffing agency fails to properly reimburse its employees for their travel costs, including their housing, meal and incidental costs, when they work on assignments away from home. The lawsuit further claims that Core Medstaff fails to compensate its employees for time spent in orientation/training that is specific to their assigned facility, and which does not advance their job skills or careers. Additionally, there are claims for unpaid overtime, and failure to pay premiums for missed meals and rest breaks, as required under California law.
